8 Tips to Grow Your Hair FASTER!

Is it possible to grow my hair faster? YES! Here are 8 pro tips-

For some women it seems like their hair grows so fast but for others it’s at a turtle rate. What gives? Just switching up your routine a little will help you produce healthier and longer hair in no time. I personally decided to test out many of these tips for fun last September. For those of you that may not know me I have very fine, fragile hair. Growing it longer isn’t as easy as it is for my friends that have strong hair. My hair grew THREE inches in 3 ½ months. My normal hair growth would have been 2 inches so what did I do?

1. Feeding Your Hair By Feeding Your Body

Products are really important but what we put inside our bodies is just as important or more important. To increase hair growth, we need to “feed” our hair. Protein and healthy fats are very important. I see increased shedding when my guest are on fad diets. We also need vitamins A, C ,E and the very important B vitamins. Plus minerals like zinc and iron. I personally I wasn’t getting enough zinc. Omega-3 fatty acids can make your hair amazing too. We tend to get plenty of Omega-6 so my go to for Omega-3 is Flaxseed, Chia Seeds, and Walnuts.

2. Trims Are Essential!

Okay, you are saying to yourself ,”but I want my hair to grow!” Please trust the process and if you have an excellent stylist that knows you want longer locks she will take only what she needs to take off. Your hair is always growing but it won’t appear longer if the ends are breaking off. Unfortunately, this is what tends to happen if frequent trims are not on the books. We have products that help the ends to be stronger by adding Amaranth Protein to strengthen. I would recommend Surface Trinity Repair Tonic, Surface Trinity Protein Cream or for extra Strength the Surface Trinity One-Shot.

3. Increase the Circulation of your Scalp

A boar bristle brush is awesome for this but your fingers are wonderful too! Not only does this stimulate your scalp but it distributes your scalp’s natural oils evenly through your hair to help with moisture. Many will want to use a penetrating, light weight oil to help even more, especially if you don’t generate much natural oil. My go to product is Surface Bassu Oil since it has so many uses. It also contains a natural UV protection which as you keep reading, you will understand how important that is for healthy hair!

4. Avoid Going Blonde with the Wrong Lightener

Who doesn’t love blonde! Unfortunately, damage is possible from lighteners. This could cause more breakage and split ends which would not give you your end results. My recommendation would be to ask your stylist to use a product like Surface Pure Blonde Lightener. With the Amaranth Protein it lifts and strengthens the hair at the same time. I can brighten the finest of strands without any structural damage. Words for the wise though, we have many lighteners out there that lift and lift fast. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to blondes. If you are doing chemical services, then the products you are using on your hair for cleansing and styling are VERY important! Is the sun good for your hair? You may realize that your hair gets lighter when out in the sun so it weakens the hair fiber too. Now you know why tip 3 with Bassu Oil is so important.

5. Avoid hot styling tools

Flat irons, curling irons or combination irons are very important to get the style we want but the temperature is what can inhibit your hair from growing. You may be giving yourself a hot tool haircut. Think of it like putting an iron on a silk blouse. Even if you touch it for a second the damage is done. What can you do? Turn down the temperature. For strong fine hair it would be fine to stay between 250 to 300 degrees. If you have stronger hair then you will need a higher temperature to achieve the look you want. Using a heat protector is a must and you have lots of choices. Surface Char Finishing Spray and the Curls Finishing Spray offer incredible heat protection.

6. Skip Cleansing Your Hair Everyday

Don’t shampoo your hair everyday! Just a minute, before you think that it’s not possible…listen to these benefits that will help you to go that extra day without washing. If you shampoo 2 or 3 times a week it gives your natural oils a chance to penetrate and hydrate your hair. How do you achieve this? If you use products that respect your health, like Surface, you are able to redo your hair without any issues of stickiness. Using a dry shampoo on DAY 1 hair, like Surface Trinity Dry Shampoo, will help reduce sweat when you work-out. Then use the Styling Swirl Sea Salt Spray on damp sweaty hair and blow-dry. Your hair is refreshed and ready for the day!

7.  Turn Down the Temperature in the Shower

Hot steamy showers are not good for hair or skin. I know it’s tempting, and it feels so good, but the hot water actually dehydrates your skin and hair. I always recommend turning the temperature down for your hair and if you must turn it up a little for your skin then that will be your call.

If you can rinse in cooler water your hair will be happy and using a large tooth comb on wet hair. Wet hair is at a very fragile state. It is incredibly easy to damage hair if you’re not using the correct products. Surface Bassu Moisture Mist is the perfect product to help with tangles and moisture. 8. Start Using Products That Will Grow the Hair

If you prefer the more natural way then you may want to do what I did! I do not feel comfortable using any products that could decrease my overall health, just to increase my hair length. Instead I used the Surface Awakening System for my cleansing and treatment.  Surface has put it all together easy for us in the Awaken Box Set. I followed this but I did a little more…. I use the Surface Awaken Masque at least once a week and left it on for 10 min. I had one happy, healthy scalp and my hair really grew but after my three inches I decide to go back to shorter hair. I love testing products and I know, without a doubt, if used correctly you can have a healthy scalp that produces longer and healthier hair!

Bonus Tip:

Using a silk wrap at night or a silk pillowcase when you sleep will help protect your hair! It’s amazing how our hair fiber can be damaged just by tossing our head if you have delicate hair.

If it is your wish to have longer, healthier hair it really is just a few tips away!
